Back-End Developer

Blender is looking for a backend developer to work on the Blender Cloud – our content sharing and film production system – and other blender.org web platforms.

Help us to push our existing and upcoming websites to the next level and join one of the most exciting creative open source projects in the world!

The Product

Blender Cloud is the production hub of Blender Animation Studio, offering a mix of training, film assets and production tools (production management, storage and render management). Through a Blender Cloud subscription, anyone can gain access to this treasure trove of resources and peek behind the curtains of the productions that happen at Blender. You will spend your day

  • Designing and implementing web applications that help artists and producers to make films and achieve other creative endeavours
  • Helping to shape the future of Blender Cloud, our content, production and render management software
  • Releasing everything you make as Free and Open Source Software

Must have

  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Basic DevOps skills on Linux (scripting, backups, logs, web servers)
  • A constant desire to improve, learn more and take things further
  • Finished higher education in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with Python/Go and frameworks such as Flask or Django

What we offer

  • A work space in our office in Amsterdam, with 22 great colleagues who work on internationally renowned technology and award winning animation films.
  • One year contract, part time is possible.
  • We help relocating by providing an affordable (shared) apartment in the city, at least for a year.
  • Because we share our work, you will build a public portfolio with excellent credits.

In order to qualify for a position you must be legally allowed to work in the European Union and willing to relocate to the Netherlands.
